Fiddlers Green

Well, I bet the title got you thinking??

I was so impressed by the custom built skirmish boards at Salute for 7TV that I am going to have a crack at one myself.

This one is based on the Fiddlers Green board which me, Stu and Geoff played and I hope they would agree it was pretty bloody good.

After a bit of research I found that the 1930/40's buildings come from www.warbases.co.uk and there a pretty reasonable price as well.

I ordered my first terraced building on Sunday afternoon via paypal and it arrived on Tuesday!!!

I've ordered another set of terraced houses to go next to the other ones (little alley inbetween) and have also ordered a PUB!!! Which will go in the gap on the right hand side.

I'm going to order a electricity sub station which will sit on the open ground right at the bottom of the board as you look at it!

I'll keep you posted as to progress

How I paint Blood Angels - Stage 2

Stage 2

Now we have the base colour of scorched brown, its now time to build up the reds. The next colour to use is GW Scab Red, again the ratio of this should be roughly 3:1 scab red/water.

Because we are wanting to build up the colours using a number of layers we do want the paint to be think as it will just "clog up" the mini and you will lose a lot of detail.

You don't need to be too neat at this stage as a lot if the areas are going to be covered again.

Here's some pics with the next layer of paint on:

How I paint Blood Angels - Stage 1

Hi all,

First of all, you will note that the title of this tutorial is "How I paint Blood Angels" not how to paint blood angels.

This is my take on the blood red scheme and which was kindly taught to me by a very very good painter (silver demon winner :)).

The products you will need if you want to follow this tutorial are as follows:

Halfords Grey Primer
GW Scorched Brown
GW Scab Rad
GW Blood Red

Stage 1

Assemble the model, remove flash and model lines and undercoat the model with Halfords Grey Primer. Personally, I prefer the finish this primer gives you and really does in my opinion make the final colours stand out.

Here's a pic of the first stage finished:

Once primer has dried then start with a thin layer of scorched brown, ratio of mix would be 1:3 scorched brown/water. This is just a bit thicker that a wash but gives a lovely base to start building up the red.

Here's 5 termies all finished to stage 1

Stage 2 to follow soon.... watch this space!!

Batcave nears completion

Well folks,

This is something that I have been dreaming about now for about 2 years or so, ever since we had the last lot of building work done on our house (where I was promised "ample" space for hobby related goodies which never transpired).

The new summerhouse is now up and I have today fitted a lovely carpet to add to that homely feel. Here's some pics:

I've managed to spend some time with the kids in there this afternoon player the WOW miniatures game whilst it was raining and we had a great time.

More updates and better pics as we go :)
